There's a hockey tournament going on in Johnstown this weekend.  A friend came in from Virgina because her son is playing.  I went to see him play.  WOW!!!!  It was very exciting (not a hockey fan).  There appears to be a couple hundred players plus parents and extended family in Johnstown from PA, VA, MD, OH & WV.  Scotts by Dam was packed this afternoon.  The parents were excited about seeing Johnstown and wanted to "experience" Johnstown.  They went on the Incline along with generally enjoying all of the ice facilities in the area.  I never knew there's a really nice facility outside of Ebensburg along with the War Memorial and Planet Ice.  Great job by the organizers whoever they are!  Good luck to all of the players....very impressive!

I would imagine they are Bantams, Pee Wees maybe Squirts, etc. But, high school hockey teams do fight, albeit the refs won't let it escalate like the NHL.

At some point I found a video on Youtube of some Richland high school player starting a fight.  Those Richland kids are such punks  Smiley

They packed our store yesterday.  Had to work 1p-5p and they looked like Junior level players.  Might have been the Johnstown Jets franchise that hosted the tourney.  Good for the area business around the Galleria that were packed yesterday.

How about in the stands?

I hear there was a lot of badly misbehaved kids and parents as well from that tournament attending the Chiefs game last night, a number of whom were ejected from the building.

The adults in the Party Pit were well behaved from what I could tell.  Unless things happened during intermissions or after the game they weren't too bad.

Didn't get a chance to talk with him but Mike Knuble was in the Pit before the game talking to some of the local hockey dads.  Very cordial as his team was facing theirs today somewhere between Ebensburg, Richland and the arena.

There used to be a hockey tournament held in Johnstown over Thanksgiving weekend that would bring youth teams from all over the country and Canada. It was great to watch from the mites up to the juniors. Don't know whatever happened to it, but it was a great way to spend the weekend with the kids while the wife was out shopping.
