so again today we hear of depending upon the source 25-35 Afghan civilians KILLED by NATO forces and that's ok because we really don't count 'em unless they are American dead right?

NOW, this piece asks WHY is OUR dysfunctional US Gov't deciding it is WE who can set up an EFFECTIVE Afghan Gov't and even waking the Afghan President while sleeping to get his agreement? Seeing as how NATO members ARE all in the UN AND the UN has effectively established governments as needed(and will assist in Haiti) why are they not charged with this task rather than the US military? The article also has some good links following the story to Juan Cole and the LA Times

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching
spiritual death.

Martin Luther King, Jr
and we're still CRAZY after all these years
