What are the dates for the new and improved ameriserve folkfest music fest or what ever they call it now....I have seen no advertising and I thought they stated it will be 2 weeks earlier than usual so that would put it around the 21/22???

I haven't seen advertising either. The dates are August 21, 22, and 23. They have a website with a lot of information here.

5 bucks for parking and 5 bucks admission price friday and 10 admissions on saturday and sunday? ?So if a family of 4 wants to go to folkfest everyday this weekend it will cost $115 and that doesn't include the 6 dollar beers, the 6 dollar hotdogs and the 5 dollars sodas!!!!!The end of folkfest is near.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXgq9FwcUXs&feature=relatedKids get in free with a parent. Donations are optional. The Tribune Review said it was free in Thursday's paper. There's plenty of free parking downtown on weekends. Will there be an Ethnicfest this year? The only advertising I've seen that there may be one is a billboard advertising the Holy Cross Lutheran Church's Slovak festival that weekend.

I'd like to take the kids down, but they really aren't old enough to enjoy it. I don't know if I'll make it down there or not this weekend. I think it would certainly be worth $10.

The website says children under 16 or accompanied by parents are admitted free.
That would seem to be open for interpretation.
The $20 pass isn't a bad deal but I don't think I could handle being there for three days. I also saw advertised in today's paper a free art and music festival this weekend at the Bottle Works, Jazz in the Park Saturday evening, two bands at the brick wall in Roxbury, and two bands at Ace's. The Clarks are playing at the carnival grounds in Waterford on Saturday.
I have heard no word from Spin Wilde Productions for events at Point Stadium this weekend.

We're going to try and go down tomorrow evening. That's about the only open time we have for this weekend.
I wish they would have kept it over Labor Day, that way we could hop from one festival to another.

We stopped down for a little while this evening. Music was good. Didn't try any of the food booths though because we had just attended a banquet and neither of us were really hungry. I'm glad they've had nice weather.

Tough to say. Commonwealth tent was packed for yesterday's Kane Welch Kaplan gig, but the rest of the place: no wait for entry, wrist straps, food or booze. There's less going on at any one time, so the crowd isn't so much divided over acts. I'm not sure I'd use the phrase "crowds flock" like the local provincial rag did. It would be nice to see some actual numbers.

I agree with you, pbal, I wouldn't exactly use the phrase "crowds flock" either. We didn't even have a problem finding a parking space like we have in past years. I believe they're going to have a nice turn out, but I don't believe it's going to be the crowd numbers that usually attend when it was held on Labor Day weekend.
