Folks, please say a prayer for the miners and their families affected by the underground explosion in West Virginia.

The mine can be held liable. They can also be criminally liable if there was, in fact, a willing violation.

However, I am familiar with OSHA inspectors and, to be honest, they get way carried away with their own self importance. I would think the mine safety people might do the same.

For example if one broken electrical outlet is found it is written as if all electrical outlest were broken.

I am not judging. An investigation will show if there were violations of safety laws and rules that caused this catastrophe. And if it is found that there were willing violations there may well be charges filed.
