This election I decided to make an effort to actually meet both candidates.  I actually had the opportunity to speak with each personally for about five minutes or more.

I found Critz to be very gracious, knowledgeable and just a generally nice guy.  When I asked him about the health care bill....yes or no.....would he vote to repeal it.....he said that since its passed we have to figure out a way to make it work.  We talked about the problems revolving the current health care system versus the bill that's been passed.  He expressed concern regarding the method used to get the bill through Congress.  He is afraid that the process alienated a lot of voters.  We discussed the lack of patient accountability along with ways to combat it.  He said that he knows how Washington works which is a big plus.  I really like Critz, but I'm afraid he'll be pushed around by Obama and Pelosi.  Mark Critz is actually more impressive in person than the ads portray.

I then had an opportunity to talk to Burns.  I found him to be very gracious, knowledgeable and just a generally nice guy.  When I asked him about the health care bill....yes or no.....he quickly responded he would vote to repeal the current bill if given the opportunity.  He felt that we need to take small steps and determine the overall impact before making big changes.  We talked about building a business and creating jobs.  He's definitely pro gun, personal responsibility, fiscal responsibility, a friend of Israel and small government.  He's for keeping the federal government out of the Marcellus shell and coal reserves in Pennsylvania.....let Pennsylvania be in control of its destiny.  Tim Burns is also more impressive in person than in the TV ads.

My personal beliefs are more closely aligned with Burns, BUT I was very impressed with Critz......  I think we have two good candidates.  I'm really upset about the way health care was pushed on us.  I'm tired of government bureaucracy, high taxes and the general direction this country is going...

I am really undecided.....any comments?

It's an allusion, you are only seeing what they want you to see.

Both candidates are political novices despite Critz's position as one of John Murtha's lapdogs.  Both are campaigning on jobs.  Critz played the Murtha card.  Burns played the anti-liberal card.  So far I am quite underwhelmed and a bit disillusioned.  This is the best we could come up?

I'm pulling the "R" lever.  Bill Shuster will be our Congressman in 2012.

About Shuster?

Reapportionment will take place after the census is completed.  Johnstown will become a part of the 9th district.  There's no doubt in my mind.

I don't know if they are both political novices (Critz has been at the earmark game for quite a while) but I think no experience should be a requirement.

It's simple.  You can vote for a guy that ran a concrete business into the ground and defrauded the federal government out of 10s of thousands of dollars, or for a guy that started a business in his basement, work his tail off and eventually hired 400 people.  Plus, he was born and raised right here.

Then again, he does have a nice house............I hear success may cause Johnstowners to vote against you.

That is sad that those people of Johnstown would feel that way, sounds like they actually take the MSM serious which should make you question their intelligence level.

From the sounds of it Burns should be you all guy to vote in but them maybe you want to be a part of the fundamental change that is underway, and if you do good luck you think J-town sucks now.

Critz has been a puppet.  There is no doubt about that.  I just need to see more from Burns.  I would like to know a bit more about his company.  It's been a yawner so far and the election is just over a month away.

http://pittsburgh.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/stories/2003/05/26/daily17.html

and

Detractors have criticized Burns as not caring about workers because of the circumstances surrounding the sale of his company. Critics claim Burns sold the company (Tech Rx) for over $100 million despite the fact that the merger would cost jobs in Pittsburgh. At the time, he was quoted as saying there might be layoffs due to duplication of certain positions but he expected overall job losses to be quite minimal. Although opponents are screaming from the rooftops that Burns put profits before local jobs, the claim simply isn’t true. A September 2003 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article reported that a local developer would soon break ground on a large business park at the Pittsburgh airport. A total of nine tenants would share 3 of the new buildings and the fourth would “accommodate expansion of TechRx, a developer of software for pharmacies that's growing and recently merged with NDC Health.” Burns’ critics are quite obviously grossly misinformed about his resume.
