Man, you beat me to it............I was going to go with "Hit the road, Jack.........."
Have to love the quotable city council.................
.
"Nobody should feel that they are superior to everybody else in the world........" Marie Mock.
I think the existing council is very competent in being able to handle this issue,” Frank Janakovic said. “They have been elected. They can, and will handle the job.” (Why would you have any confidence when you haven't handled anything before? By the way, Jack was elected, too.)
“You either resign or you don’t,”?Rose Howarth said. “You don’t play games. You don’t hold the council and the citizens hostage. Everyone is well aware how serious of an issue the sewer question is. Now it is time for the new hires in the city to be the leaders they need to be.?We need to let them.”
And the best for last:
“We have a city manager we pay $75,000 a year,” Anthony “Red” Pinizzotto said. “I think she should know. Jack knows a lot too, but we pay the city manager to guide us.”
Which shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the city manager form of government. Red, you guys are to guide the city manager. She isn't to make decisions.
With sage comments like you see above, it's shocking that confidence isn't rampant among city residents.
Like him or not, Jack Williams was the only one that gave a hoot about much of anything in the city. His methods are terrible, but at least he has a bit of knowledge.
