The use of the cell phone while driving has become normal behavior these days.  People are oblivious to what is going on around them.  And it is people from all age groups that cannot live without being on the phone every second of the day, especially while driving.  And it is not only cell phones.....I have seen vehicles that have a laptop mounting device that allows a driver to mount their laptop to a bracket for their convenience.  It sits right next to them, in the middle of the front seat.  This is insane.  And how has this made anyone more productive?  It hasn't.  How many accident and/or deaths will it take for people to be more creful and considerate.  I consider this driving while impaired.....no?

The cops in my county have the laptops at their side, not sure what restrictions are in place for their use.

IF........a person is using a LT in a static position then I see no issue...it's when a person thinks they can multi task while driving, that's where trouble begins.

BTW...not only police, but EMS and fire units have been using LT for years...however in the case of a fire dept rig, it's the officer viewing/inputing/downloading information, not the driver.
