Just got a phone call today from ValuKing about a app i put in on Careerlink website, here is the link to there website:
http://myvaluking.com/home So i am taking it that is what it is going to be doing more research into it, it is Owned By Giant Eagle:

Concept     Smaller value grocery store with less offerings but at the lowest prices. Valu KingĀ® offers fresh produce, dairy and frozen, meat and grocery. In addition to carrying lower-priced brands such as Valu Time and Food Club, the stores also offer a "Value Section" with weekly specials on name-brand products.

Got that info from http://www.gianteagle.com/about/real-estate

and from another website: Giant Eagle has launched yet another experiment, opening a prototype store outside of Cleveland that takes aim at the value market served by chains such as Save-A-Lot and Aldi.

Giant Eagle should do well with this concept.  I have heard though that they are not going to accept the Advantage Card there for Fuel Perks which may or may not turn people off.  They also seem ready to do a major expansion as they have Dubois as a location as well as some of their other cities such as Columbus under the hiring page.

Many forget that Giant Eagle's Shapira was involved a good deal with Phar-Mor back in the day along with the Tamarkin Company(Tamco transportation).  The Valu King name comes from the old Tamarkin group in Youngstown,OH.  Link to Phar-Mor's Mickey Monus' wiki page which gives the startup money info:

Yeah, Shapira was one of the founders.

Phar-Mor had issues but they seemed to be past them until some ill-advised acquistions in the Northeast in the late 90s.  They had the cash but felt the need to try to buy stores that didn't fit the model.  The Pharmhouse/RX Place deal really put them in a hole that they couldn't recover from.  Also there was a company out of the midwest that wanted to buy them out of bankruptcy but Giant Eagle bought it first.  The biggest thing was the prescription records Eagle was able to get especially in Western PA and Ohio(Columbus, Cleveland and Youngstown).
