Grin I do not care one way or the other if a racino comes to Johnstown but I would like to play devil's advocate. Three basic arguements arise among the proponents of cassinos, racinos, whatever. They are:

1. It will bring jobs
2. It will raise revenues to lower taxes
3. There is nothing morally wrong with gambling-if you want to do it, do it, if not then don't.

Well using those arguements let's go even further. Let us allow legal prostitution and the legal sales of all drugs.

1. It will bring jobs
2. It will raise revenue thru taxations and licenses of the above mentioned businesses
3. There is nothing morally wrong with them-if you don't like it then don't participate.

Remember I am only playing devil's advocate.

Gambling is already legal - it's called the lottery and every 18 and over can do it.

Casinos ... the gambling is limited to within the building, yes?

Drugs ... do drugs, drive, risk other people's lives.

Same can be said for alcohol which is legal if you are over 21.

You can kill someone with either a gun or a pencil.  Anyone can get a pencil.

Prostitution ... why is it illegal?  Someone wants to get lots of diseases, that's their problem.  Then again, they can spread it to someone else who doesn't know about it.  Of course, you can get it from someone who wasn't with a prostitute.

There's a lot of interpretation and subjectiveness in these arenas, isn't there?

I take it that calling it a "racino" is sort of the in thing to do these days. You know, like taking a "staycation" or hanging out with "Branjelina."   This hip new word culture of ours is just so cutting edge that I feel like I'm getting left behind by the hour.  Roll Eyes

What about saying "da bomb" instead? Is that still cool in 2010?

The manzier was a cool concept back when Billary were running the country but not in today's modern world.
