It would be kind of cool though if Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton marched down Luzerne Street with a group of local yokels in protest.

Kenny! KENNY!!! This 6'7" kid is looking for a new school. Why don't you and your coaching staff corner him in a sidestreet after a game and make him an offer. Or you can call his mother and ask her, "don't you want your child to have a good education? Aren't you a good mother?" Show pictures of the new wellness center.

All 47 paid coaches could entice him to come to the Trojans. Hey maybe they could use a shoot of him as screen savers on the 32 42 plasma tvs in the weight room.

Hey PSU, do you remember way back in the early 80's when JHS got in some kind of trouble for having a 6'7 kid named Mike Walker on the basketball team? He lived in Richland but transferred to JHS just to play basketball.

Oh, boy - and the nutjobs are going to come out of the woodwork to comment on the T-D.
I was up Westmont earlier this week and what I saw was disturbing. Roaming bands of thugs and thieves beating up anybody that got in their way. I saw teachers in the teacher's lounge smoking dope and getting drunk and then forming mobs that started flipping BMWs and Cadillacs and setting them on fire. The principal was mindlessly firing guns into the air. I saw Rodney King beating up a trucker and some Thai kid kicking in locker doors. The Sharks and Jets were cutting each other in the cafeteria in between dance routines. I saw a gang of blond cheerleaders standing around another girl and laughing at her because she bought her lipstick at Walmart. I saw rich kids from Graystone Estates and Whispering Pines beating up the poor kids from Old Westmont and Overbrook with sacks that were filled with silver dollars. The National Guard showed up and was beaten back by the band thugs and their instruments. Clint Eastwood was outside the front door with a shotgun telling the Viatnamese gangs to get off his lawn. The Irish were sent to clean the floors and the Italians were sent to clean the toilets. Chinese kids were behind the school, shackled together where they were forced to build a railroad so the football players can easily get from the high school to the middle school.
It was all very disturbing. This is why I removed my children from Westmont and moved them to South Bronx High School.

You know, the more I tihnk about this the more I realize what crap this is. Racism is bad. Hate crimes are bad. Bullying is bad. But doesn't this crap go on everywhere? I went to a Westmont basketball game last year. There was a black kid on the team who was not a starter. Westmont had the game in hand and the fans (student section) just went nuts because they wanted coach to put that kid in. They chanted his name and yelled for coach to put him in. His teammates caught on and started looking to the coach. So they put him him. He wasn't very good, but the students were cheering for him.
The problem here is that for every one case of racism you can find 100 cases of NON racism - but who wants to read about THAT, right? THAT won't sell newspapers.

I thought he was 6'8" Richland had a few kids who lived in Johnstown that went to Richland. I know of two cheerleaders, a football player/wrestler and one or two regular students. I also know a family that lived in Richland and sent their daughter to Conemaugh Valley and their son to Johnstown Vo-Tech. How they pulled that off I'll never know.
