For the division, as it should be, it doesn't get any better than this.
I was really wanting to come home to go to the game, but having postponed a week's worth of classes for my recent trip to Russia, and the Christmas break coming up, I just couldn't -- i'd have to have flown in Friday night and back right after the game and be teaching on Monday.

At least it will be on a  decent time out here for a change, I'll go to a sports bar and diss Steeler fans, yeah, they're even out here.

I predict Ravens 20, Steelers 17.  I think Ed Reed will do an amazing thing or two to mess you up.

DOUBLE ENTENDRE ALERT!!!

You're goin' down! Somewhere at one of the quarters the score will be 3-0 or 13-0 or 13-10 Steelers, cause those are my grid numbers and I'm due for a win.

It should be a decent game, both defenses have a history of keeping scores low and neither offense is routinely racking up high scores.  Since they are not good friends there may also be a spike in medical attention and an awful lot of red flags flying around, the fines of which will pay for the EMT's services  Grin

F#ck Ray Lewis too.

Both are certain Hall of Famers, 1st ballott.
Both have lost quite a bit from their prime, Ray to age, Ed more to physical ailments I believe
but both can still be game changers, the chances go up with in direct proportion to the importance of the game at hand.
Ray is quietly having great success at pass rushing, a role he rarely filled in his prime.
Ed still roams, guesses and gambles and often strikes pay dirt.  An opposing QB had best know where both are at all times, and sometimes even that is not enough.

The Rock says it's kind of sad that Baltimore fans didn't support the Colts because then they wouldn't have had to kidnap the Browns from Cleveland and give them a new alias. It sort of reminds The Rock of Kunta Kinte being forced by the white man to say that his name is Toby.

Actually, Kunta Kinte was a fictional character, did you know that? Guess it doesn't detract from your point though.
I can't speak to the Colts/Ravens issue, as I was only about ten years old when the Colts left, and we were in Guam at the time, my father still having been active duty Navy back then.

But I was a Baltimore area resident when the Ravens came to be and participated in the excitement of acquiring a team-- we tried it the "right" way but the NFL chose Jacksonville ( looked at their fan support lately?) and Carolina ( looked at their fan support lately?) instead. Maryland put an offer on the table as take it or leave it right then that was open to any NFL team, and the Browns took it.

I can tell you its only the old folks around here that even bring up the Colts and the issue, the Ravens fan base is made mostly up of younger ones like me that don't even relate to the Colts, we're just Ravens fans and that's it.
Fan support is among the best in the NFL, better than that awful team a little south, the Redskins who claim so many years of sellouts while having thousands of empty "premium" seats that the NFL doesn't count-- we're full every game and have been for years, primo seats and all.

I'm very despondent. We're most of the time just coming up short vs. the Steelers-- who I tip my hat to, a great team for sure, that's why it means so much for us the times we can somehow eek out  a win like in October----- but its so frustrating to be so close--- I would'de tried the kick rather than go for it on  4th & 2, Cundiff has had a great year---- Flacco reminds me of Vinne, he does so many good things, then one disastrous thing to rip the heart right out of your throat.................
OH, well, hope we get another chance in the Playoffs, but there's no way around it, this is a devastating loss.. congrats though to the Steelers and their fans......

Was on the edge of my seat. You know these guys give it up more often than a certain poster here in the last two minutes.

Thanks for the reminder, I needed that.

He's frustrating too, how he gets away so many times and makes a play-- Suggs should have not gone for  the ball and just concentrated on taking him down

he's a great QB though
I saw his debut in person in Baltimore, he came in for Tommy Mattox, I believe-- which having Tommy knocked out was about the best thing that could have happened tot he Steelers at the time, we did you a real favor there, even though we won that game-- had Ben been the starter, I don't think we would have, as I recall, he was bringing the Steelers back at a furious pace, but they just got in toomuch of a hole when Tommy was in

sadly, I believe in all 4 Ravens losses this year, we had 4th quarter leads-- usually the D melts, but this time, I put it on the O and that awful fumble, maybe we should have punted on first down
