Greetings, all!

As a new member on the board, I thought I'd drop a 'big scoop' for my first post!

Tired of shuffling into the overcrowded Richland Township Walmart for your electronics needs?  Or wasting gas traveling to nearby Greensburg or Altoona to purchase that new computer or flat screen television you've been wanting?  Unless, of course, you complete all of your purchases online.

Fear not!  Soon you will no longer have such a dilemma!  Best Buy will be coming to Johnstown in June 2011.  They will be locating in the former Circuit City building within Richland Town Centre.

In related Richland Town Centre news, Lychee Chinese Restaurant will be opening in April 2011.

You're welcome T-D and WJAC.

I believe the Best Buy thing was posted over a year ago on here and maybe on Hey Martha...the Johnstown area is still waiting.  Is this your"wish list" or is it a reality?  Just askin'

Forgive my lack of a source for you, WDVE.  Feel free to check it out for yourself.

Source: http://mpgpropertygroup.com/news.htm

Local media is not always, how shall I put it, entirely credible.  I deal directly with the source.

And Ashley Furniture's parent company Roomful Express just announced they are closing 13 stores in the Pittsburgh area.

http://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2010/12/07/roomful-express-enters-receivership.html

That leaves the old Circuit City building as well as the Ashley/County Market(Giant Eagle) building empty at the Galleria.

BTW it is nice to see Best Buy moving into the empty parcel at Richland Towne Centre.  Where is Lychee going in up there?  Not much room from what I can tell unless there is an opening coming up.

Hey Scoop, how about showing some love for downtown Johnstown by bringing in a Wal Mart?  Surely you can hook the City up with some kind of commercial venture that could put that Dollar General inside of Glosser Bros out of business for good.

Anybody know if Walmart is still actively looking to put a 2nd store in Johnstown or did that move to the backburner?

Haven't been in that Dollar General for a long time but they have really cleaned up the one in Moxham a lot.  The funny part is I know who one of the regional VPs is with them and he is very strict at how these stores look.  May have to go to the one downtown to see how much it has cleaned up since he has been around.  Also have to wonder how many managers they have gone through.
