I guess it just matters HOW you killed a person or people, not the fact that you actually killed another human being.

Intent matters more than how.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

That you are responsible for killing another human would probably eat on all of us. But, let's be honest. We have probably all become distracted for a bit and we could have had an accident in that momentary distraction. That accident could have killed someone.

99 % of us have, the other 1 % is lying.

Now, if it was you and the end result was a death should you be punished? That certainly depends on the distraction, its length, and whether the distraction was intentional or deliberate. What distractions have caused accidents? Cell phones, eating while driving, adjusting the radio or temperature controls, looking through tapes or CD to decide what to play, looking at the cute chic or the male body builder, reading roadside signs, rubbernecking another accident, etc.etc.

My point is there are many and we must always remember that our job is to drive that 2000 too 3000 pound bullet.

Each case should be judged on its own. And it should be judged on the extent of the careless action, the length and severity of the transgression, and whether or not traffic laws (speed, road conditions, etc) were being broken not on whether we like the person behind the wheel or the fact that this particular accident resulted in serious injury or death. These should only be considered after it has been determined that the accident was caused by the inattention(s) cited.

Example;  recent accident involving entrapment..

Driver of vehicle A under influence of a controlled substance and intoxicated with said vehicle having a large quantity of cocaine inside..crossed median running into vehicle B head on..Driver A w/ minor confinement carrying on with EMS, fire and police departments becomes unruly, going as far as MFing rescue personnel not to remove door for extrication purposes.  You get the picture.

Driver of vehicle B not severely injured...

Driver of vehicle B could have easily been killed/severly injured or paralyzed..

The cavalier attitude of vehicle A was atrocious...this example happens everyday...it's not always the fact that an inicent person is killed.
