I know NOTHING!

« on: March 13, 2011, 07:55:34 PM »

According to most sources about 1/3 of the world's population professes to be Christian.

What happens to the other 2/3rds when they pass from this life?

I believe that we are all God's creatures.  Will they be condemned to hell because they are not Christian?  I don't profess to know the answers to this or any other questions relating to religion.  I would very much like to know, but I'm not sure that I can comprehend it all.

I believe this is a mystery of mankind as long as we're on this earth.  I believe, these questions and others will be answered when we pass...

This could be a good debate here.  I think that the Jews have their set of rules to be accepted into heaven, being God's chosen and all.  I think the Muslims have their way to heaven because they are one of the Nation(s) God promised to Abraham, remember God told Abraham he would be the father of Nations.
I think Jesus gave the gentile (the rest of us or what Enoch would consider the offspring of Cain) our way into heaven, because in the end we are all His children and he wants us all with him.

Just my opinion, I am not a scholar or biblical teacher.  Just the way I read into it and how I tie it all together.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

I attend a weekly Bible study (I'm cramming for the final) Some are very adament that the ONLY way to heaven is through Jesus. The Bible does teach that no one can enter except through him.

But, I was met with silence when I asked why they were limiting Jesus. Can he not say to the m\Muslin, the Jew, or anyone else. Welcome enter here?

Just my thought on the matter.

I bet there were some good "Christians"  wondering about you after that study.   Wink

No, good Christians would not judge. Actually I really believe some gave it some thought.

Christians use that verse to say you must accept Jesus. I think it says Jesus must accept me (or you). And I am so glad that even though I am unacceptable through his grace I am accepted.

That is the whole point of confusion for me.  If one must accept Jesus how can any non-Christians get to heaven?  And that position has been posted on the buzz often.  I have a hard time accepting that there is only one road to heaven, that only true Christians can go to heaven.

Again, the Bible says Jesus is the way and the only way to heaven. But, does that say I must accept him? Or does it say he must accept me?

Either way, I refuse to limit Jesus to the way I or anyone else thinks is the correct way for him to accept me.

In other words Jesus can accept Muslims, Jews, heathen, ever the folks from westboro baptist church. I tend to think he will reject them, but again, I am not the judge.

If you read some of the books that never got put into the bible, but were very accepted by the early Church.  You would understand how truly narrow that path to God is.

No one, I mean no one in todays world could or would walk that path.

If Jesus was sent by God to be our Savior than it would only make sense that the only path is through him.  Like I said before this is just what I believe.

You must accept Him and in that you must believe with the faith of a child that He died on the cross for us and rose again three days later to be at the right hand of our Father in heaven.  All that has to accepted and believe to be true for us to get to the best place to be.   Just my understanding I don't want anyone to think I am preaching or anything.

I understand where you are coming from, and I have heard some that get very argumentive based on the scrripture.

I will say it as I remember it. You can quote it if you wish.

I am the way, no one comes except through me. This has been used to say that you MUST accept Jesus. But I beleive it really says Jesus must accept you.

You are talking about Jesus's conversation with Nicodemus.  "Being born again of the spirit, that it can only happen through Jesus."

Oh I agree on that point Red, hence on judgment day there will be many who Jesus tells "I have never known you" and they get cast into the fiery pit.   The path is so narrow, that point it also made very clear to us.  "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get into heaven"

I am telling you though if Oprah makes it we are all a shoe in.

John 14:6 (New International Version, ©2011)

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

This is the verse I was thinking of.

Red, I can see how one could interpert that as: Jesus must except you, however, didn't he do that when he died on the cross for our sins, so that we may be saved? Wouldn't that be considered a forum of acceptance? Sort of like I died for you, now it's your turn to accept me. In a way tag you're it!
