Big fight in Moxham over the weekend mutiple cops from Richland Upper Yoder and Jtown. From the editorial page.
"Moxham neighborhood a crime-riddled area
Driving in the Moxham section of
Johnstown has become big-time bad.
The city could make money if the police would patrol Moxham and pull over the people who don’t obey stop signs or who drive 35 mph and faster on the streets.
The drug houses in Moxham have become so bad that it doesn’t matter what street you walk on. The dealers don’t care who sees them, and the police care even less.
Bond Street, Park Avenue, Grove Avenue, Jacob Street and Coleman Avenue – everything is too easy to see.
Dealers think if they send their people into the alleys, we’re not going to know what they’re doing.
On every street you go on in Moxham you can find dealers.
Landlords need to do background checks before they rent their properties to people.
Two homes I?showed people for my landlords loved them. But when I asked for their names and identification to see their backgrounds, they told me they had a few more homes to look at.
Thanks to the person who put in the Philadelphia and New York newspapers about the rent here being less.
Thanks for letting the most wanted and drug dealers in both city’s know where to come.

The Housing Authority is partly to blame but as the City's population continues to shrink it opens up available homes for lower class folks in what were once middle-class neighborhoods like Moxham. In about 20 years or so a lot of this same riff-raff will be living on Luzerne Street.

I place maybe 5% of the blame on the JHA.

There already is, try riding down that way, you will see who they are.

Opportunistic section 8 slumlords JHA Drug business undermanned and otherwise blind-eyed law enforcement Lack of sustainable job opportunities Epic fail to adapt to the loss of the steel industry Poor leadership in general ( City politics, see above) Lack of parenting skills or absence of it altogether General Family Dollar Stores <--just throw it in Hopelessness and desperation

Aren't halfway houses considered part of the "Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership?"

"a first-floor apartment with a view of Dale, Hornerstown and Moxham." Sounds a lot like the old Ship Motel on route 30 where you could see 3 states and 7 counties.

Yes. 95% of this town's problems are homegrown. Why is it that we think that the ads the JHA may be running in urban areas are any more effective than ads run by the Convention and Vsitors Bureau or the Chamber of Commerce in other areas to attract tourists and new businesses? The drug trade is present in town because there is a demand for drugs.

Exactly. Why would the people they are trying to attract want to live in this particular building?

....forgot I left out another key element worthy of correction...forgetting the halfway house was unacceptable. My bad.
