This is how you are going to differentiate yourself form Obama?

I didn't like Newt when I lived in Ga and he was my representative, but with the field that they are starting to present I am afraid he might come near the top because he is an established Republican.

You did better than I did Wiener. I was represented by Barney Frank for a while (not to mention Kerry/Kennedy).

explain to me what you think he meant by "it is a variation on it (individual mandate)" or paraphase "like car insurance individuals being required to buy health insurance on a sliding scale a gov subsidy so everyone has health insurance" or "we ought to have some requirement that you have health insurance"

Upon further review, I see your point. But, that's just one issue, I'll give them a draw on that one.

As Speaker of the House Newt was as divisive and polarizing as was Nancy Pelosi. If the Republican Party gets to the point where they nominate him they might just guarantee a second term form President Obama, in much the same way that the Democrats pretty much guaranteed a second term for President Bush by nominating John Kerry in 2004.
And if they don't soon begin to move in some positive direction with legislation it may not matter whom they nominate, much like the case in the 1948 election with the so-called "do noting Congress" that handed a victory to underdog incumbent President Truman over Thomas Dewey.

IMHO, Mitt Romney is a far better candidate than any of the other Republicans who have expressed interest, particularly Newt.

On Mitt he spent all of MA's money so what makes you think he won't do the same as President? We need someone different, someone who is known for saving money and cutting budgets.....if we don't strive to achieve this in our next President you might as well kiss the USA good bye and it's citizens as well.
Don't believe what they say, look at what they have done.
Huckabee....spender
Romney.....spender
Newt....spender
So far we don't have a non spender to pick from and if we don't demand it we won't get one and the US of A will become just another fallen empire in the history books to be changed however those writing the books see fit.

I don't think enough people will engage their brain to get him elected. We need Christie and he won't run.....in the words of "Cartman" "DAMN IT"

Governor Christie is opposed to unions and is a strong advocate for austerity.
Governor Christie has spoken in favor of gun control, green jobs for New Jersey, and cap and trade dollars for New Jersey.
IF (and that's a big if) he were somehow able to convince the Republican Party to nominate him despite his differences with their stated platform, I believe that he would have an uphill battle to unseat President Obama.
A problem with extreme candidates is that they lack the breadth of appeal to win in a general election. I don't disagree that we end up with a compromise as president most of the time, but I also feel that those who favor an extreme candidate are not anywhere near the majority. Governor Christie has a lot of pluses, and President Obama would do well heed some of those pluses, particularly in the area of austerity. But extreme candidates cannot win, and middle of the road generally rules. Candidates may mouth some things to placate the extremes, but they seldom follow through because they know that following through may lead to them not being reelected. President Bush on abortion control and President Obama on quick withdrawal from the wars come to mind.
Finally, my brain is fully engaged and I do my homework and research. I'm wondering if you knew of Chris Christie's favoring gun control and green jobs and cap and trade, Wiener, or if you only saw his opposition to unions and his positive steps towards cutting costs. The fact that someone doesn't see things exactly as do you doesn't mean that they are thickheaded or don't understand or aren't thinking.

Also, Gov. Chrisite might be a little too fat to be elected president.
