I've heard rumors for the past two weeks, that Conemaugh Hospital is looking at taking over Somerset Hospital. From what I've heard, Somerset Hospital is having a heck of a time keeping doctors and surgeons. Has anybody around Johnstown heard anything like this floating around?

Haven't heard a thing, but I think Windber-Somerset would be a better fit.

There is going to be a major shakeup in Johnstown healthcare once Highmark takes over West Penn Allegheny.  Who goes with whom in that battle?  Or do Windber-Conemaugh-Somerset all stay involved with both insurance carriers?  Should be interesting come 2012.

I don't think Windber wants to get into anymore partnerships after the Conemaugh fiasco.

My friend, who lives in Meyersdale, said Meyersdale Hospital had a big re-organization last week. Don't know if that plays into it or not.

What was the deal, that Windber broke away from Conemaugh anyway?
