I Keep throwing away my collanders. I have a habit of turning them upside down on top of the trash tolet them drain as I hate putting anything unnecessary down the sink drain, but I always forget to get them out and next time I need one, can't find it, and realize I must have thrown it out in the trash

.....i'm a bit confused on this procedure.......sounds like you just threw out whatever you just made...................

No, I strain the stuff over the trash can, then put it back in the pan for further prep, then turn the collander upside down and put it in the trash.
