I usually don't carry cash in my pockets, but this morning, my roommate handed me $15, a ten and a 5, for something he owed me as I was leaving, so in a hurry, I stuffed it in my pants pocket instead of my wallet and purse. Later, when I made my first visit to the old Circle K convenience store. I remembered it and left my purse in  my car, intent on using the $15 I knew was in my pocket. The lot of Circle K is all congested with construction and customers vying for the few available parking spots, so I parked next door at a doughnot shop- bet the doughnut shop loves that, lots of folks are doing that , but anyway, I spent the ten and had the 5 left still in my pocket. As I was walking from the Circle K lot to the doughnut shop back to my car, I passed through some border shrubs so my view was limited, but I heard a female voice call out " oh Miss, excuse me, wait!" I looked around and didn't see anyone else around that would be called a " Miss" so I started back and saw three girls , late teens, or early 20's--- they didn't see me due to the angle and shrubbery-  I saw one of them bend down and pick something up  from the footsteps I had just made, and deftly put it in her pocket, and the three turned and walked the other way. I checked my pocket, and my $5 bill was gone. I figured I must have dropped the $5, and at first at least one of them must have thought to do the right thing, then changed her mind-- maybe because I didn't appear to respond--
well, I walked up to them and confronted them, they denied calling to me, seeing me drop anything, or pick anything up. Then another lady in a car parked on the lot got out and said it happened exactly as I had thought- I indeed dropped the bill, one of them picked it up after first calling to me. They all 3 continued to deny. I told them I didn't even care about the $5.00 I just wanted to see someone do the right thing, I told them I'd go back to my car, get my purse and give them another $5.00 for just telling the truth. They kept up the denials- I went to my car and got my purse and caught back up to them and tried to hand a $10 to the one I thought picked it up and said If you need money so much to be dishonest, here take some more --- they jumped in their car and thren took off like I was nuts. Put a sour start to my day. Sad

You don't let me forget nothin', do you?

But, what a great idea, I think I'll do it for my next amateur study of human behavior--- maybe even use the same location, drop a pack and see how folks react.

That's a shame for 5 bucks! I mean, I wouldn't even do that let alone for 5 bucks.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

Grin Now? Or 30 years ago?

Let's start with 30 years ago, but why should it be different from now?

Thirty years ago I might have pursued you.

As to why it is different in thirty years - Time will answer that for you.

And actually, thirty years ago I was married to the wonderful lady who has made me a much better person. It would have to have been 37 years ago.
