There is some activity at some of the old mills but for the most part the buildings that are occupied are only partially occupied. The only exception would be the wire mill. The mills were employing around 12000 at their peak and we are now lucky if 2-3k are there just guessing though. The mills could have been consolidated into a much smaller version than what they are now and the remaining brown space could have or should have been put to much better use.
