Why don't we try to respect one another.

One day in San Francisco, Willie Rivers, Jimmie Cyree, and I were sightseeing. We went into a small restaurant or lunch and the waitress says to Willie, "I'm sorry we don't serve colored people here."

Willie grins and says "That's okay I don't eat colored people anyway."

Wanna wager on how many of us walked out of the restaurant?

BTW the three of us were roomates.

Your right Beeker.  Skin color doesn't and never has mattered to me.  I don't know how to help people who can't see past it, I feel bad for them cause they are missing out on knowing some really great people in this world because the focus on the difference of skin color or ethnic background instead of taking the time to get to know others on the inside which is what counts in the long run.

I don't know why the "Angry Black Woman" claim is made.  The talk of Michelles run-ins with aides is no different then I remember the talk of Hillary's run-ins.

A panel of pundits pontificating predictions of potential public perceptions in 2008 hardly qualifies as relevant to the First Lady's claim 3 1/2 years later. Do you have something a little more current?

My views on black people line up pretty well with Pastor Mannings views on black people. I enjoy his videos on youtube.

Maybe in Jodi Kantors new book, but like Michelle I have note read it yet.  I don't have anything more current that would indicate that Cal's views have changed.

I saw Thomas' remarks as more of an analysis of what the Obama's might face from public opinion, rather than as his own opinion, although it might have been his own opinion. I think it would be worthwhiile to filter Mrs. Obama's remarks through what Kantor actually wrote but I, myself, gave up reading when Howdy Doody hit the airwaves. Sure, I disagree politically with them on nearly every issue, but that's a problem for half the electorate at any given point in time, and beyond his demand for extra-Constitutional authority in the recent Defense Authorization Act, I don't hold much against the Obamas. She does come off, though, as rather common in my opinion, and not in the good Andrew Jackson kind of way. My historical perception has been that the First Lady is usually the classier half of the White House act.

I think the story boils down to a simple philosophy.  Whether it is 1600 Pennsylvania Ave or 1600 Franklin St, the lady of the house runs the house.  The problem that comes into play in the White House is that there are many advisors that make decisions based on the political impact of how the house is run.  That is more of a problem for the First Ladies who have young children in the house because they want, and deserve, the ability to control the environment their children grew up in.  So as the old saying goes "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy", and I don't feel that race has anything to do with it.
