If I listened to her music I probably would have. I am like every other man and wouldn't deny that they are both very attractive but the moral degradation of this country is wrong whether its two men or two women. FYI I a was a life long democrat till about three years ago. Now I am independent.

I think God gave us the free will to let gay marriage happen it is not for you to judge those people who choice the wrong path in life it is for God to judge.  That said if you don't like it don't be a friend of gay or any such thing.  I think they should be able to get married and if they are judge for their deeds then we won't have to worry about seeing them in heaven.   Just my opinion and yes I know we all have one.

This is one issue where I'm not on the conservative boat-- ( there, take that for all you who accuse me- falsely- of being a Republican) I Can't for the life of me see how permitting gay marriage harms society in general. I'm with Wiener on  this one.  Good post, Wiener.

The same could be said of me Aimeey, only a different but no less passionate topic...ie abortion..

Although I won't argue, society does feel harm..Wow, talk about opening up a whole new can of worms.

I have to disagree Aimeey, in that it is not a good post.  While Wiener says we should not judge, basically she closes that comment with the Heaven and Hell concept and she won't see gays there.  Why not?  There is so much in society that we have to adapt and accept, interracial marriages, gay marriages, abortion .. it will never end!
Does it really matter to anyone how the Creator judges others?  I always thought the most important thing is to ensure your next phase of life in Heaven, not your brothers and sisters.  Damn, I learn so much on here it never seizes to amaze me!  Can we all say together hypocrite?

I think you said a great deal Zen...I know I'm the first to say, or a least in my mind (I'm the judge and jury) hell is awaiting you.

I think most of us are quick to judge a person because they have other views against my view.  I guess it's human nature; is it hypocritical, absolutely.

I think it's very difficult to practice what we feel is the correct ideology to which someday we get to heaven.

Actually, I was leaving out the spiritual aspect of her post and just commenting on the practical, here and now. I don't really agree with her that being gay will necessarily land someone in hell--- or if there even is a hell for that matter, what I agree with is the lifestyle of gays straights,, anyone is none of our concern so long as they don't infringe on the rights of others. As to the hereafter, well we each relate to that in our own way.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

« Reply #14 on: August 22, 2011, 09:05:42 PM »

I do believe that any time two people share a home, and whatever else, they should be treated (legally) the same as two who are married. For example my two sons have lived together for the past 6 1/2 years. It initially was due to necessity. he older one needed the assistance of the younger to stay alive.

If one is working why can't he provide insurance for the other? If there is a "breakup" should there not be a legal standing regards property etc.? Lots of questions - few answers.

Call it marriage? Maybe not. But there is a commitment by gays who live together or by others as I have described. Why are they not "equal" under the law to those of us who are married?

Some say it makes marriage somehow less. How? More importantly how can we claim such when we have cheapened marriage already by using the throw away standard when things go against our wishes?
