And our solution is to add more tax cut extentions.

Yep it depends that the correctness of something depends solely on who is suggesting it.

Here is a clue. Money is available but corporations and small business are very reluctant to put it at risk with the uncertainly of what restrictions will come next.

When we can give individuals confidence that their paycheck is safe and give businesses assurance that we will not pull the rug out from under them or impose more requirements and restrictions on what they can do we will see the recession end.

The stock market showed what they think about the "solutions" today.

Second verse, same as the first
A little bit louder, a little bit worse

By some standards it was a good attempt, but it didn't work.  Time for a new approach.  Red may be on the right track in that business owners need to not live in fear of the next rule change.  If a business keeps reinvesting and expanding, at some point the hammer drops and all of the sudden they did too good and need give more back.  It's just easier to be on the edge of the imaginary "Rich-guy" line.

I was dumping stock yesterday before the anticipated spectacle.

That's why he wanted a Joint Session and not just a speech, he needs cheerleaders when making undeliverable promises and this was a perfect opportunity to attempt to make those mean old Republicans the reason you are'nt going to be able to buy that 60" plasma TV.

Ah, but I do believe he had an immediate impact on jobs. I am certain that the orthopedic clinics in Washinton had a lot of business today from all of those who kept getting up and down last night.  Smiley

Some hand specialists also saw a jump in business from bruised hands.

I still want to know when the labor bosses were elected to congress.  Trumka sitting there made me want to puke.

I agree Weiner. Trumka f'ed up the UMWA, that I know personally. He's a real jag-off

This little story talks about that issue,  http://www.laboreducator.org/laborsvoice55.htm   He and other labor leaders seem to live pretty good while forcibly taking dues from people who are losing their homes.

He has refused to answer questions about his competence and judgment as the AFL-CIO’s secretary-treasurer. It is now public knowledge that the AFL-CIO’s net assets shrunk from $66 million in 2000 to negative $2.3 million by 2008. Yet Trumka, who was secretary-treasurer during those years, won’t tell us what caused the meltdown of the Federation’s treasury or what he would do about it if he were AFL-CIO president.

It has also come to light that Trumka received an extra $74,000 from the AFL-CIO treasury, in addition to his basic salary of-$165,000 in the four years between 2005 and 2009, plus a pension of 60 percent of his top earnings. Trumka won’t say why he was entitled to that extra $74,000, amounting to a 44 percent pay increase over his normal salary—at a time when the AFL-CIO was facing a financial crisis and millions of workers were losing their jobs and their homes.

I have never been forced to take a union job in my life.

In some states most of the jobs are union be glad you reside in Pa.  I worked for a Shaw's grocery store and I had to join a union.  I made min wage and they took 15 dollars a week.  This was in the late 90's when 60 bucks could pay your cable bill with change.

yoyo is right. You are not forced to take a union job. But if you have a union job, ior a non-union that that becomes one you are forced to join the union.

Once more for the record. I took a mangement job. The place voted on and became union four days later. More than a year later they settled on a contract that had less than I had gotten for them in my first four days.

And they had to pay union dues.
