Came home from the overnight radio gig one morning @ 6:30. There was my 2-year-old walking down the side street. He wanted to go for a walk, so he unlocked the door handle, unlocked the deadbolt, unlocked the storm door and went for a walk. What're ya gonna do?

Another time, he's napping in his crib. I'm puttering around downstairs. A neighbor knocks on the door. "You better get your boy off the porch roof." The boy had climbed out of the crib, climbed up on the sill, unlocked the window, took out the screen, and crawled out onto the roof. I'm not a bad parent, and The Boy, of course, is exceptional.

I would like to see a lot more proof of negligence, drugs, drunk, other instances, before i would want to see a mom getting arrested over this.  Maybe that info is there on this woman, but arresting her on only the info in the story is a little too much imo.

If I ain't mistaken just a month or two ago a young chap was playing in the turning lane on Scalp Ave.  Mom blamed his older siblings and life went on without handcuffs or jail.

Of course mom was white and lived in Richland.

A Johnstown woman was jailed for child endangerment after her 3-year-old son was found alone riding his Big Wheel on Ohio Street, authorities said.

City police said witnesses saw the boy in the 300 block of Ohio Street at 10:42 a.m. Monday and helped the boy off the roadway. Tierra Cook 18, of the 200 block of Ohio Street, told police she was asleep and was unaware the boy had left the residence, a court document reads.

Cook also was charged with disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. She was arraigned by on-call District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post $50,000 bond.

I, like Pbal, had a similar incident. Knowing my 3 year old was a Hudini, I had locks and deadbolts installed up high where I could hardly reach and alarm bell on his bedroom door so I knew when he got out. For some reason I was dead to the world at 6AM and was awakened by the sound of Big Wheel down on the road! I jumped up to look and sure enough there he was in his diaper riding down the middle of the road! Thank God nothing happened even after I spanked his butt, I didn't get in trouble. Am I a bad mother? I think not but others may think differently. I would like to hear the whole story....

More than once! I think that's what we need more of today, not a beating but a good butt warming. My kids turned out just wonderful and aren't child abusers today.

Another great couple.

I hope these two get taken care of while they are locked up. Apparently the "man" was in the clink for child abuse before.

Another Mother and Father of the year possibility

Couple accused of locking boy in coffin arrested

SCRANTON – A northeastern Pennsylvania couple accused of making a 7-year-old boy sleep in a coffin have been arraigned on endangerment and unlawful restraint charges.

The diaper-clad boy was found crying in the basement of a home. He says he was bound with tape.

His mother, 26-year-old Lori Gardner, and stepfather, 31-year-old Brian Sleboda, were ordered taken to Lackawanna County Prison on Tuesday in lieu of $60,000 bail each. The (Scranton) Times-Tribune says the two said nothing as they were escorted out of the Scranton police headquarters.

Neighbors heard the boy crying last week and called police. Officials say the bug-infested home has been condemned.

Authorities say in a criminal complaint the child told officers he often was locked in the basement and told there were ghosts there.
