Come on Woz and you didnt vote yourself a nice fat raise either!

— The Oct. 6 editorial on transportation issues was way off base and a low blow (“Wozniak slow on the uptake; Believes taxpayers have untold wealth”).

The piece focused on the recommendations of Gov. Tom Corbett’s transportation task force regarding tax and fee increases to generate $2.5 billion annually, but you found it convenient to slam me.

This was the governor’s commission and its recommendations. It wasn’t my commission. How you found a way to attack me for ideas put forth by the governor’s commission while at the same time patting the governor on the back for not raising taxes is beyond me. It takes a special kind of editorial gymnastics to make that stretch.

I have been very candid and public about the transportation needs of our region. Our roads and bridges need to be repaired. We need new investments in infrastructure to keep motorists safe and generate new economic opportunities.

I have held public meetings to discuss our needs, authored proposals and lent my support to initiatives that would leverage new state and federal dollars. As Democratic chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, I met with the governor and strongly conveyed my views. I told him that he has to explain in detail his plan for raising new funds so that we can repair our roads, bridges, rail lines,  airports and mass transit systems.

I believe that the governor’s commission did a good job illustrating funding alternatives. What we need now is to hear from the governor about his recommendations for sustainable transportation funding that meets Pennsylvania’s needs.

Keep an eye on the ball when you take a swing. You missed the pitch with your recent editorial.

Sen. John Wozniak

The editorial by the Tribune was a hatchet job.  Wozniak obviously doesn't buy enough advertising and must not be a good friend of Marky Mark.

The answers to the state's infrastructure woes are 1) raise taxes, 2) raise fees, 3) ignore them

How about the state cars that were going to be eliminated? How about the WAMS these guys get? How about cutting the size of legislature? How about charging or taxing the all companies drilling in PA? Why are the roads in PA so terrible to the rest of the area and have historically been? Crocked corrupt govt is probably a start.
