Isn't this how Vietnam started, We sent advisors to help the French, then troops to protect the advisors then troops to augment the South Vietnamese and French Troops and in a short time the War was ours when the French left and the indegenious troops were not very well trained.

We got into viet nam on a lie called the "gulf of tonkin incident". People should have seen right through that one. North vietnamese firing torpedoes, just wasn't a very credible lie. If only we had voice stress analysis back then.....

I understand US military advisors began arriving in 1950, long before the Gulf of Tonkin.

We had Truman, Ike, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon all dealing with it and when Nixon ended combat operations it may have been similar to Clinton bombing training camps in Afghanistan, a matter of distracting from their own misdeeds
