Dilinquent Garabage Fees Could Help City Deficit
Trash could actually help Johnstown get out of debt.

Johnstown is $600,000 in debt, but the city has a long list of residents who have not paid their garbage fees.

In August, District Judge Leonard Grecek heard around 75 cases of residents who failed to pay there garbage fees. More than half of the people owed over $500.

Mayor Tom Trigona said the city will continue to go after the residents who are delinquent on there fees but its not a complete solution to the city's deficit. The problem is most people are on payment plans and it takes about 6 months to collect the owed money

Cut-backs must be happening all over, city fails to collect fees, property owners don't pay taxes and the wonderful WJAC cuts their editing program...

diliquent and the usage of there ... I am not a grammer specialist or an English major, but please someone proof-read what is being printed!

My water, sewer, and trash are all on one bill so if it doesn't get paid then I lose all three services. Maybe the city just needs to change how they bill folks.

One big reason it has gotten this bad is that the city collects the fees for the trash hauler then pays them.  The stickers don't help because a neighbor could pay then have a group of friends and family put all their trash in that pile.  Also they could go to a local store and dump the trash there.  IMO the city needs to consolidate the water, sewage and trash bills but with the GJWA operating in several municipalities it would be a logistical nightmare.  Also they could let more than one hauler into the city and have each bill seperately but then again you run into the same problems as above.

But, then it's not just your problem anymore. Your neighbors are affected by your irresponsibility.

It could become a health hazard then they should throw you in jail for having health hazards.  That is what they did to the Amish dude.
