Report from msn.com:

http://wonderwall.msn.com/movies/susan-sarandon-widely-criticized-following-reports-that-she-called-pope-benedict-a-nazi-1648005.story?gt1=28135

Where is the backlash over this?  Hank Williams, Jr is called out unmercilessly by ESPN and others but this liberal loon is left alone?  And to think she is a supporter of obama and the rest of them.

1. ESPN was Hank Williams Jrs. employer at the time, they paid to play.
b. Hank Williams Jr. got fired by ESPN other than that he actually got a lot of support, saying he was called out unmercilessly is overstating what happened.
iii. google sarandon and nazi and you get a lot of hits, where is she getting off scot free?
IV. I called Wiener hitler and only got a few "dislikes"
  • The real people that should be pissed off here are actual Nazis, they have a reputation to keep and if they are getting compared to people like Obama and the Pope they are losing street cred.

This indicates that backllash has begun.

In reality, I believe that the Pope was a member of the Hitler Youth, though not necessarily by choice.

Her words were inappropriate, as were Hank's, IMHO

IMHO Hank Jr wasn't called out unmercilessly; he just lost a gig.

I guess we all see and interpret through our own lens, making our opinions -mine included- valid to us but not necessarily to others.

Personally I am getting a little bored with the Nazi and Hitler references, regardless of the source and target.  To try to reduce the power of any leader by invoking the Hitler reference does little damage to the target but it does give some credence to the Neo-Nazi movement.  The danger that I sense is that when there is a photo out there that associates a person making the statements with a world leader, that leader can be tied to the statement by finatics who are offended.

You have to wonder why she would go so far back into his youth.  If you were with the nazi and lived in Germany you had just signed your own death warrant.  I wonder how Susan would have reacted back then herself, faced with death at a young age or join a crazy national movement.   hmm.......
