I do realize that we have national security laws and such but how could a loan to a company fall under it and doesn't this make all of you wonder what they are hiding about these loans?

Bush used national security to cover his a$$ throughout his presidency so this should be no surprise.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

BUT, this man said he was going to make ALL of government transparent.

Then too, no surprise. He has not done much of what he said.

Just to make it clear then, you're saying this is okay?

The "national security blanket" has been a "comforter" to toooo many politicans for far tooo long. The media usually plays along. They seem to "not" play along lately ONLY when a blogger or internet website breaks the story and will appear to out-scoop them. People like Matt Drudge have their pros and cons; they tend to break news solely for their own aggrandizement, but it DOES get broke. They also tend to jump on stories that have no meat on the bone, so they tend to be seem as sensationalist. Stories that pose a threat to national security are very real- you could get killed for breaking them. But they are few and far in between. A policy of "transparency" in America isn't realistic because we have enemies that tightly control their opaque medias. Transparency can be like broadcasting your battle plans before or while you're fighting the battle. You wouldn't tell your chess opponent how you plan to play the game. Thats why they call it "politics". It comes from two root words -Poly [many] and tics [parasites]. Media comes from the root word "medicine" for diseases suffered by the masses because of the actions of politics. [i just made the latter up- but it sounds pretty cool.] If Wiener can do it.............

I don't think this particular episode has national security impact. Unless of course you think that giving political pay back and favoritism is a security issue.

I think all American's understand that there is a need to keep some things behind closed doors ( although the Chinese will disagree with you on that one), but there are many things that are behind closed doors that don't have to be.  So by all means Mr President let us see them.

Absolutely not. My statement is meant to suggest that the new is just like the old.

Ok, thanks, Bush did it too, that makes it all ok, hunky-dory.
