 I would have liked it better if she had said that between tuition and books you won't be able to afford anything else.

Then what are they spending that money on cause she said they don't need anything, and if they can't afford books and tuition than why are most of them in tens of thousands dollars worth of debt when they get out of college?

It is because they can not afford it that they borrow it to creat the debt.

I am thinking that college if over rated, if you have to create yourself a mountain of debt to obtain it then it would normally be out of your reach.  Maybe the kids should just attend the cheap schools then the more expensive ones would have to either lower costs or go under.

OR get a job and go to night school until you have enough to finish.

But, we are back to the I want it but I don't want to have to give up anything to get it.
