Vets are already put ahead on the list of people to hire because of affirmative action, so either there are too many people in the system looking for jobs, or not enough jobs to go around. Is it fair to put a vet ahead of someone who has just as good if not better skills for the job in question just for another tax break to a corporation?  I mean OWS is all about nailing the rich for the money they owe and here we are with another tax break I don't care if it is for hiring a vet, a tax break is a tax break and there are way to many of them in this nation for all people and corporations.

It is an election year so they are trying to buy votes and that is all this bill boils down too, to bad some are so blind they don't see the system for what it really is a huge scam.

Affirmative Action for hiring veterans only applies to government contractors and subcontractors, I believe.

I wonder what your reaction would have been if the Tea Party had proposed providing a mechanism to encourage business to hire veterans and the president had rejected it.  Negativism doesn't equal insight, nor does positive thinking equal blindness.

Sure sounds like you are judging people for supporting this.  Again.

I would think the tea party would be insane for demanding less spending then then coughing up a bill that takes away revenue from a system that can ill afford it.  You can think I am judging all you fing want to, but in the end a tax break is a tax break and either you are against them or for them and if you are for them you don't realize the area of instability that you own nation is in.  Our bills are at 70% of our GDP and will only continue to go up from there and if you can't do simple math that is not my problem that is your problem.    Just because I am a member of the Tea Party doesn't mean I agree with every issue they have out there so don't go getting all big in your britches about something you don't know and that is me.     Truth is truth and that is what causes people to be blind not seeing the truth for what it is the truth.   It is a tax break in a time when this nation doesn't need more of them they need less government spending on everything.  If Canada can do it and survive even come out the other side stronger than why can't we?  Porto Rico did it and they have grown but we can't do it because so many feel that it is their rights and all they are is confused about what is really a right and what is an entitlement.  I know we won't agree and your lucky I addressed your belittling ass at all.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

Perhaps this is nothing more than trying to lessen the outroar when they turn those who have served one, two, three, and four tours in this war onto the streets.

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., cast the dissenting vote. He said studies showed that earlier bids to offer companies tax credits to hire welfare recipients, inner-city youth and released felons did not work.

"I cannot support this tax credit because I do not believe the government should privilege one American over another when it comes to work," DeMint said.

This is a copy and paste from a newspaper site.

With all due respect, I disagree with the senator.  Veterans deserve special consideration because of their service, all other things being equal.

Seems to me hiring vets vs. hiring intercity youth, welfare recipients, and released felons is not a great comparison.

I know in Pa they have a quota to fill, they can already hire vets and it counts toward their affirmative action quota.  I know I have gotten jobs because being female and a vet I fill two of those quota's with one hire.  Most states have this I am not 100% sure if it is a federal quota or just states.   I don't favor putting one American above another either, everyone that wants a job should have an equal chance to get that job based on their experience and qualification only, there should be no form of kick back to hire one over the other.  You all want an equal playing field but then you don't make up your minds please?

Didn't the last bill offer tax breaks for companies that hired individuals who have been laid-off longterm, i.e. over a certain amount of time?  And we're still over 9% unemployment.

Whatever our minor disagreements, one thing's for certain my countrymen and women. We've all been had, and will continue to he had until we wake up and smell what they are cooking.
