Didn't congress just extend the Bush tax cuts?  Seriously with all the bad mouthing he did of Bush now he wants credit for the Bush tax cuts?  Is there no end to the humor of this man?

We also have the big mean oil companies willing to spend billions, if not trillions, of their earnings for both infrastructure AND labor for the Keyastone pipeline and being held back.  I guess we have to make sure they just stay rich and evil because "Sharing the Wealth" with unemployed makes more political sense than having more people employed.

The Keystone pipeline is already built and pumping oil, ijs

On November 7, 2011, several thousand environmentalist supporters, some shouldering a long black inflatable replica of a pipeline, formed a human chain around the White House on Sunday to try to convince Barack Obama to block the controversial Keystone XL project. Organiser Bill McKibben said, "this has become not only the biggest environmental flash point in many, many years, but maybe the issue in recent times in the Obama administration when he's been most directly confronted by people in the street. In this case, people willing, hopeful, almost dying for him to be the Barack Obama of 2008."

On November 10, four days after twelve thousand people encircled the White House, culminating the months of protests, President Obama announced "the decision on the pipeline permit would be delayed until at least 2013, pending further environmental review". TransCanada stated they have been in conservation with the U.S. Department of State (DOS) and fourteen different routes were being studied, eight that impacted Nebraska. They included one potential alternative route in Nebraska that would avoided the entire Sandhills region and Ogallala aquifer and six alternatives that would have reduced pipeline mileage crossing the Sandhills or the aquifer.

Somebody better tell Transcanada that their website is wrong.  Maybe you are referring to the Keystone XL pipeline

Originating at Hardisty, Alta., Keystone Phase I transports
crude oil to U.S. Midwest markets at Wood River and
Patoka, Ill. Keystone Phase I began commercial operation
in June 2010
.
The Canadian portion of Keystone Phase I involved the
conversion of approximately 537 miles (864 kilometres)
of existing TransCanada pipeline in Saskatchewan and
Manitoba from natural gas to crude oil transmission
service. Along with the construction of 16 pump stations
and approximately 232 miles (373 kilometres) of new
pipeline in Canada, new facilities were also required
at the Keystone Hardisty Terminal, including: three
operational storage tanks, an initiating pump station,
and interconnections with existing pipeline systems in the
Hardisty area.
The U.S. portion of the Keystone Pipeline included the
construction of 1,084 miles (1,744 kilometres) of new, 30-
inch diameter pipeline and 23 pump stations throughout
North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois

Measuring approximately 298 miles (480 kilometres) in
length, Keystone Phase II is an extension of Keystone Phase
I from Steele City, Neb., to Cushing, Okla.
Construction of the 36-inch diameter pipeline was
completed in 2010, connecting Keystone Phase I to
storage and distribution facilities at Cushing, a major
crude oil marketing/refining and pipeline hub. In addition,
Keystone Phase II included the construction of four new
pump stations as well as an expansion of additional
pumping units for 22 of the 23 pump stations built as part
of Phase I in the United States.
In Canada, Phase II also included the construction of seven
new pump stations and additional pumping units for seven
of the 16 initial pump stations built to support Phase I.
Keystone Phase II commenced commercial operation in
February 2011
.

A very quick search says that the Keystone Pipeline decision has been delayed by the State Department until aftet the 2012 elections.

The entire evolution of this is confusing.  After years of claiming that the oil companies have been jacking up prices, on virtually everything by extension, and damaging the economy, any effort to reduce costs and create jobs is blocked.  It gives me the impression that our government does not want the oil barons to start spreading their wealth by hiring people and paying them to work but would rather tax the hell out them and spread it under the governments plan.

So let's look at it. Working Americans paid less FICA when the government says the program is going to go broke. Sounds like some of your logic (OR distinct lack thereof).

Maybe you should run for office.

Didn't you get the memo? It is all one pot of money.  Besides, the government is getting out of the pension business, every man for themselves.

There would be no cost of living increases to social security once I was elected.  Also, everyone would be taxed on their total income.

Yep, the haves are always willing to take it or keep it from the poorest.

In Cambria and Somerset Counties there is probably a higher percentage of people living only on SS than most anywhere else. But, hey let the inflation run amok, but make sure those who really need the help get none.
