I believe that the best thing that could happen for America right now, is if all the people would take a day out of their life and investigate hemp. Youtube has a lot of excellent educational videos with a number of scientists and politicans who have taken the time to learn. You can start with this video, sort of outdated, but it includes some hemp talk, along with other good positions articulated by Paul.

Big oil companies use big money to keep hemp illegal. I think its a shame that young men have to get arms and legs blown off, and killed, for oil.
Drug companies would rather spend big money to keep DCA from legally being sold in america, and watch people die of cancer until they can make a synthetic drug to do what DCA does.
Ron Paul could break through if he could only get elected.
Media participates in the conspiracys as well.
When was the last time you ever saw a newsmagazine story on the miracle of hemp, or the miracle of DCA?
If Ron Paul would try to broach the subject during debate, the media moderators just interrupt him and giggle to make him look like a fool.
Honest science extols the virtues of Hemp and DCA, but special interests spend lots of money to squelch the public discourse and debate.

Science also said in that the planet was cooling and we were headed for an ice age and now they say it is heating and we are in for global warming.  Science is only as smart as the people doling it out and they are not as smart as they think they are.
