JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Jacksonville, Fla., have accused a woman of killing a 67-year-old family friend, whose body was found hidden under children’s Christmas presents.

Michele O’Dowd’s brother discovered her body Friday, a towel covering her bloody face.

Police arrested Patty Michelle White in South Carolina. Authorities say she’d been living there the past few months and allegedly returned to Jacksonville to rob O’Dowd.

Family members say they treated White as part of the family, helping her earn extra money by giving her odd jobs.

The Florida Times-Union ( ) reports White sometimes spent the night at the victim’s home. She also knew the entry codes to the gated community.

On Friday, police say a debit card stolen from O’Dowd withdrew $1,000 at two bank ATMs. White was identified on surveillance photos.

This is so sad, I've read in other articles that this 67 year old woman had a big heart and very loving and kind to everyone! I have a moral question however, what to do with the presents? Sorry if the question offends anyone, but it did pop in my mind!

Hmmmmmmmm, well I guess they wouldn't know where they came from, but I wouldn't want my child to have one, if I knew.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

Actually, the presents are probably part of an estate. Some executor must make the call, or the courts.

True. Your comment made me think that they may just be considered as part of the crime scene as well, and crime scene evidence can be held for quite a while.
