Cracking the Faith Barrier
I know not all of you are religious, but I have to try. For your souls sake, I have to try.

Sometimes you make me chuckle. On another thread you talk about friends with benes and now your tring to convert people. And you wonder why the christian faith is attacked sometimes.

Isn't there sumthin' that sez, "Love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor like you love yourself...that's the Gospel"?
Too many fellers get twisted up in other stuff.

Exactly they try to make it more difficult than it truly is.

Well it covers how I feel about our government and their shady attempts to grow bigger. Where is it written that christians are perfect? Have I held your feet to the fire over something?

No I feel that the Good Lord gave me free will and if that picture and phase is what best fits my feeling about those in DC, then I shall use it. If it is hanging myself in the good Book realm, well I will be the first to admit I am a sinner.
I am not perfect.
I do not always act in the best manner.
Do I sometimes regret those decisions, yes.
I am here and living in this world, trying to do my best for my God, my fellow man/woman and my kids.
I can ask no more of anyone else, then I ask of myself.
I don't know what else to say.
Except God Bless You.

Well, thank ya. I know for a fact He has blessed me. Many times over.
Now, about that free will...y'see, Wiener, hun, I don't agree wit ya there. Yep, the Good Lord done give you the choice, BUT He expects you to be wise in your choice. It ain't no insurance policy to do as we please an' then run t'Jesus for forgiveness. Sure, we all sin, but as Jesus tole the prostitute, "Go, and sin no more." Actually, us Christians have LESS freedom than the average American. What do I mean? Well, our first allegiance is to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Sure, as American citizens, we have the "freedom of speech." That means we can say what we want, right? Now, as Christians, our freedom of speech is limited. Read the book of James, and see what I mean. "Cursin' and blessin' cannot come out of the same mouth." Ifn' we believe Jesus is who He sez He is, then we have to go by His rules: Love the Lord your God, and Love your neighbor as yourself." That means treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Ifn' you want people shoutin' at you, tellin' you that you lie, then be prepared. Take the example of Jesus. He didn't scream and curse at the people, He sat down and talked with them.
Tell me, Wiener, who did Jesus get angry with? The sinners? Nope. He was angriest with the religious folks of His day, wasn't he? Why? Because he saw that they was jes bein' religious on the outside. Inside they was dead. He called them whitewashed tombs. Nice and purty on the outside, but dirty as all get-out on the inside. Even when He was on the cross, dyin' He asked God to forgive the people what done killed him.
Y'see, there's a big difference between bein' righteous, and bein' self-righteous. (I ain't suggestin' that you is either, neither.)
Mebbe I jes see the words of the Good Book in a differnt light than you. That's ok, too.
God Bless ya, hun, as you learn more 'bout Him and His plan for your life.

Thank you and that last statement is the closest for all of us. The walk with God is a constant learning experience.
