How many more higher priced homes are going to be on the real estate market now? Alls good in the hood.

I'm hoping a company moves in there and hires 15,000 people.

Norm Dicks promised that he wouldn't forget Johnstown.
All is well.

“This decision was both misguided and wrong,” Critz said. I don't know how this fellow thought he could every replace Murtha as the bringer home of the money to his area. He has no experience and had to be trained as to how the system works when he got to Washington.
“We will continue to work with employees impacted by this decision to assist them in finding jobs both within the Johnstown community and elsewhere.”
I like how they include elsewhere in this statement can you say relocate to a bigger city to find a job.
I would like to know who the 57 are that get to go to Washington and what their jobs were in that company. What their jobs are going to be when they get there. Didn't Eric Holder like this area it all seems to be blamed on the justice department and you know I don't think that department should be involved with job creating or destroying.

You're right, there was no way Critz could have saved it. NDIC has been under scrutiny for many years, back into the 90's, each attempt that Murtha thwarted had little to do with his ability as a Congressman but was greatly impacted by his power as a senior member on various subcommitees. He routinely added NDIC funding as a rider on other bills.

Is anyone yet willing to admit that their characterization of George Bush over this issue was misguided? Wrong? Politically motivated? Didn't think so.

No one ever will admit to that. The editorial that Robin linked explains it well. Somehow it will inevitably be considered a well thought out Democratic move to consolidate resources and save money, when only 6 or 7 years ago it was an evil attempt by Republicans to put hard workers in the poor house.

I think that it was politics then and I think that it is politics now. Then our district had the power to sway the funidng our way; now we don't. That's just my opinion, of course. In reality, we can only guess and assume.

I think that it was politics then and I think that it is politics now. I think it's good old fashioned business now. A duplicative and cost ineffective agency is being absorbed into another agency. What's telling is that only 57 of 300 plus jobs have been identified as being worth keeping. Remember the average salary of these jobs was reported as being $89,000. Is my math correct? $21,627,000 in salary to employees that were determined to be unecessary.
