The word Christian literally means "little Christ" signifying that one is like Christ. Christianity is defined as the Christian religion, founded on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Christianity is the only faith based on a living God, if you look at all the others, their Gods are all dead.

If you are committed I would think it would be both.

It's a way of life. Many religions are Christians.
In FL, they call Christian Churches non-denominational. So, Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans etc.....

thats an odd thing to say. Who would worship a dead god.? Christianity is a faith based on the "tradition and rituals od men." Most, like easter and christmas are based on pagan holidays the days they are celebrated corespond to pagan dates, noy scriptural dates. Christmas is celebrated when the romans celebrated the birth of mithra- christmas is celebrated 3 days later. Easter is celbrated when the romans celebrated Diana or some trash, Passover is in the general timeframe but passover's time is set in stone by God for all Israel and christians to celebrate. Jeremiah warned us not to be like the heathen and chop down a tree and set it up in your house and make a stand for it. and deck it with silver and gold. Christianity became a religion based on the traditions and rituals of men because they created a bible and used it to scare "illiterate" people. What good is a bible going to do a person that can't read or write. up until the 20th century most humans were illiterate. Now that they can see traditions and rituals are not biblically sound, the church has no choice but to explain it away as custom, tradition, ritual. THEY CAN'T LIE THEIR WAY OUT OF IT BECAUSE FOLKS CAN READ, NOW YOU HAVE TO MISCONSTRUE SCRIPTURE TO SCARE PEOPLE. lIKE, "BROTHER I WISH ABOVE ALL THINGS THAT YOU PROSPER AND BE IN HEALTH, EVEN AS YOUR SOUYL PROSPERS" - THAT MEANS GOD WANTS YOU RICH AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PLANT YOUR MONEY LIKE A SEED INTO MY MINISTRY. AND SOMETHING GOOD WILL HAPPEN TO YOU, THEN YOU CAN SEND ME MORE MONEY EVERYTIME SOMETHIN GOOD HAPPENS TO YOU. IT'S BECAUSE I'M PRAYIN FOR YOU WHEN I LAY MY MAGIC HANDS ON YOUR REQUEST.

That is how man works when they live in this world and are of this world, which we all know this world is ruled by Satan. That is why you are to be in this world but NOT OF IT.

No, the emperor slyly mixed christianity with pagan holidays in an attempt to bring peace to the empire. The believers in Jesus had true power and the stories about that power traveled far and fast. Constantine "supposedly" saw a cross in the clouds before a great victory at the millvale bridge. No one heard of the incident until many years after his death though. No one else witnessed the alledeged cloud. But his military all worshipped mithra and diana. The roman emperors decree that nothing new be added to the leather bound book dubbed the bible, still is adhered to today.
Modern christians claim to be baptized in the same spirit as Paul and the disciples, but you don't see any christians writting books to add to the bible because their "authority" would be questioned, and without overt power...................

This is why any Christian that wants to be in the know, reads the banned books of the Bible. Enoch's is most interesting.

Very good point Weiner. The book of Enoch was the favorite of the early church- the ones the bible producers murdered in horribly cruel ways.
The banned books of the bible are only a few of the thousands of manuscripts that never made it into the bible. And worst of all, thousands of original manuscripte were lost at sea when the ship went down with original manuscripte aboard. It amazes me that christians don't even wonder where the bible came from and who produced and editied it. Many don't even know that the land God gave Israel goes from the nile river in egypt, all the way to the euphrates on the border of Iran. And from the meditterranean sea in the north to persian gulf in the south- including Saudi Arabia.
Iraq sits smack dab in the middle of the holy land. Even babylon is within the borders of the holy land.
The arabs and israelis are blood kin- sons of abraham. The sons of Isaac and Jacob are and were favored by God. Arabs descended from the brothers of Issac and jacob. Palestinian and Israeli killing each other is brother against brother- just like Jesus predicted.
As a christian I like Mohammad, he was born in the Holy land and fought to drive gentiles from the land. He worshipped the God of Israel and believed on Jesus Christ. Although the Koran wasn't written until 30 years after his death. Jesus, nor Mohammad never wrote anything. I think it is a shame that 300 years after Jesus death and the death of Paul, that some men decided to take Pauls letters and edit them and put them in a book produced by gentiles and the roman emperor and pass it off a genuine scripture. The koran was written by persians who hated jews and gentiles, not by Mohammad. If Jesus and Mohammad walked the earth today, i doubt that either would carry a bible or a koran.

But the banned books are bad in the eyes of Church leaders, I don't think that goes for just the gentiles.
According the banned books the holy grail is Jesus's bloodline, the way some read.
Now we can't have the masses thinking Jesus succombed to the wiles of earthy women.

Up until the 1900's it was common that people couldn't read or write. 90% of the people were illiterate. And the 10% that could read and write probably couldn't comprehend what they were reading- with the exception of a few. If you have no knowledge of history and such, reading isn't worth much if you can't understand it in context to your world.
A lot of things were written down after being passed down in the oral tradition.
When books became available and people learned how to read, it seems like inspired writings took a nosedive.
Men wrote as they were inspired by God is how theologians reckon it. But is no man inspired by God anymore. Watching televangelists, you'd think they had Gods cell phone number. AND THATS WHERE PEOPLE GET THEIR IDEAS ABOUT FAITH. CHRISTIANS JUST TEACH WHAT THE MAN ON TV SAID- ALL YOU NEED IS A VERSE OF SCRIPTURE TO MISCONSTRUE.

True but God also warned us of the dry period as I call it, no prophets, no real Godly men in any leadership position. That is where we are now and will be until the end days kick into full gear and then as it is written God will pore out visions on both His sons and daughters. These will be the left over ones to try to save as many from the mark as possible. True warriors of the Lord, these will be and they well get slaughter by the leader of the day, or martyred however you wish to put it.

Come on weiner, DRY PERIOD! Since when? No Prophets? really? Turn on christian TV and you can see people out the wazoo claiming to be prophets.
Popular opinion is that televangelists are leaders of the church and men of God. The electronic church has become the most powerful and influential bunch of greedy, money grubbing, fakers ever. You have devils like Benny Hinn,Oral Roberts and his kin, Peter Popoff and many others pretending to lay hands on people and heal them. Phony gifts of the Spirit , phony tongues, fake miracles , false praise reports, mesmerised masses enamored with their phony power, and so on.
they are smart, they use the return of Jesus and hell , and a false doctrine about the rapture to scare people into sending them money and having them pray for people. THEY KNOW THAT PAUL SUPPOSEDLY WROTE THAT IN THE LAST DAYS MOCKERS WILL COME SAYING "WHERE IS THE FULLFILMENT OF THE PROMISE OF HIS COMING" TELEVANGELISTS ARE DROLLING WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO CALL THEM ON THEIR FEAR MONGERING . THEY'LL QUOTE THAT WRITING FROM PAUL AND USE IT TO MAKE THEMSELVES PERSECUTED MARTYRS.
WHEN SATAN CAME TO TEMPT JESUS , HE CAME QUOTING SCRIPTURE- THATS THE DEVILS GAME.
If the christian religion was REAL and ordained by God, they would have true power from God because thats the way he operates. The Holy Spirit took his power from the christian religion when the romans killed the early believers, stole the scriptures, edited them and put them in a book, mingled their faith with paganism, began to worship mammon, taught unscriptural doctrines to illiterate masses, and began false miracles. GOD WOULDN'T BLESS A PEOPLE WHO TRIED TO STEAL THE FAITH, JUST TO GET THE POWER LIKE A BUNCH OF SIMON MAGUS'S.
THE REAL CHURCH WAS MURDERED AND REPLACED WITH A BUNCH OF PRIDEFUL SMILIN DOGS.
