Why don't we try to respect one another.

pbal, thanks for the fix. I was sort of like a druggie that couldn't score a hit.

Keep up the good work!

I was pleasantly surprised when I got home tonight to find the sight up and running again. I guess I missed the fix too.
Thanks pbal...

Hey, why is this subject in the Fun and Games section? That was not fun at all when the site was down. LOL

I did at first, and then I wrote on Pbal's web site about it and others from here replied that it was the same for them, so then I knew for sure it wasn't just me!

According to pbal it was the server that crashed in the wee hours last night. He was out and did not catch until later. But hey, he caught it and it was repaired.

This is the fun and games because I didn't pay attention to where I was when I set it up.

btw, my avatar is one of pbal's photos. Anyone want to pinpoint its location?

Boo, these people will do anything to drag me into this section.

I'm waiting to hear back from our host (asmallorange.com - reasonably priced, no less reliable than most, and much more responsive than many). I saw our server was down this a.m. when I headed out to work, but, as this happens briefly and occasionally, I didn't think anything of it. Got home tonight and found the error message and then your comments (I get an email when anyone comments laurelight - you can also use the contact link there if you like). Looks like a corrupted database. Bad news, since, being old, tired and lazy (mostly lazy) I never backup anything. Good news - the host's control panel's 'repair database' option worked. I'm hoping the host can tell us whether the crash caused the site problems or vice versa. Sometimes a database glitch can bring down a server. It might not have been us though. We're on shared hosting, which means there are several sites on the same server. I'll let you know if they find anything.

While waiting, I decided to fill Matt's fridge w/beer.

Hey Pbal, thanks for the explanation. When the site was down, I cached it and it did come up but was a cache from several days ago. From there I clicked on the home page and got another error that said this paged has crashed and needs repaired... or something very similar to that, not the exact words. So I figured something was up with the site. Next time I will use the contact link on your web site, sorry, I panicked and just put a comment on your comment page as that was the first thing I found as a fast form of communication. LOL

That was mighty nice of you to stock Matt's fridge with beer. Too bad you didn't come stock my pantry with some organic chocolate, cause I had to eat some since the site was down, to calm my nerves! LOL!
