from me anyway. I admire his telling it straight- he's Obama's pick, and he apparently didn't tell Obama what he wanted to hear-- he took what Obama said he wanted, evaluated it, and told him straight up what was he needed to accomplish it- including the dreaded ( to libs and such ) MORE TROOPS call.

But, then he says things like our forces our "preoccupied with self-protection"

I want them "pre-occupied with self protection" I want them to have the best odds possible.
Then reports are coming in where our forces were under attack and requesting air support and having it delayed or even denied, sometimes they just "buzz " the bad guys hoping to scare them away.
Nuts to that, the bad guys should be obliterated.

Aimeey7 that's what happens when wars get so political. The grunts are the ones who suffer, not the politicians.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

I wish the politicians would realize that the should never be a political war.

ALL wars are political

It rarely is an average citizen Army that invades a neighboring country and many times the 'politics' instigate the war like Gulf of Tonkin incident, WMDs, giving Saddam a wink wink to go for Kuwati Oil and then punishing him for doing so, toppling democratically elected gov'ts in Chile & Iran, supporting free elections until Hamas WON in a fair election and on and on and on

Yeah, well tell you what whatfreedom, you go to fight an enemy and be bound by rules that will not allow you to fight back when being fired upon.

If one sends others into harm's way one should not place the restrictions on them as we have done. That is the politics to which I referred.

I think both  are as informed on rules of engagement as a rock.  Zero is just playing over there.  The hubs went back yesterday for the 4th deployment .  This is the first time I have actually been worried because we have a CinC that isn't concerned about the troops.  He has already said that victory wasn't important. He more worried about everyone liking him and getting re-elected.  When I saw the new rules of engagement I thought Rummy was back.

I have had this thought since he took office.  Ours guys, our youth are going to be hung out to dry over there.  When the **** hits the fan we won't be able to get them out fast enough.  Either we go in there to win this thing, or pull them all out now.  With Iran and Israel getting heated up, it is only a matter of time.  They have been over due for a war between themselves in that area of the world.

if you all want to continue on with a LOSING propostion the please see that things are going very very poorly in Afghanistan now & unless WE commit many many more people to the cause(DRAFT) and much much more money and  are willing to STAY for the Loooooong haul(5-10yrs) then continue on with the absurdity of following the same path as Bush took & be prepared for the GREATEST DEPRESSION the world has ever known
