Well, we went to the potato fest in Ebensburg this morning and sadly it started to rain. At first it was just a light drizzle but then it started raining hard. It was very cold too, especially for a toddler, and though I had a good heavy jacket on my daughter, I forgot to bring a blanket too! Anyway it wouldn't have mattered anyway with the heavy rain. I feel bad for the crafters and vendors, they got rained out more or less! Last year it was nice and the crowd was so thick you could hardly walk through it. Today we had all the space in the world as there was not many attending the fest. Oh well not much they can do to control the weather, but again, I do feel bad for those folks.

I heard over the scanner about an hour ago that some kid ran-off with one of the vendor's cash boxes.  Like the lousy weather wasn't bad enough...  I hope they catch that perp!

That's a shame and you are right as if the bad weather wasn't enough! I noticed a lot more vendors there this year as well, but just couldn't stay there and walk around because of the rain and cold. If I didn't have my daughter there, I probably would of stuck it out and stayed a while.

We went to the UPJ Homecoming Parade at 11am and the weather was ok, at least not raining.  Then the rains started when we went back up for the David "Mad Scientist" Willey presentation.  The rain slowed down and we decided to go to Potatofest.  On the way up 219 the sky fell again and never did let back up again.  We opted to stay committed to going.  It was our first tiime there and it was bigger than I expected, although crowds were obviously smaller than they would have been with good weather.  We made sure to help a number of vendors out.  By 3:30pm vendors were starting to pack up.  It's a shame when it rains all day for a one day event, but those are the chances you take with an outdoors event.  We'll go again.
