It's on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC. I've caught a few episodes and the concept and storyline are great although the acting isn't stellar, it's really interesting. It's based on true events about a volunteer organization that helps law enforcement find out identities of homicide vicitims who are listed as John or Jane Doe's.

I've not seen it, but it sounds interesting. I don't get to watch much TV with a 3 year old around.....Except for Sponge Bob and Dora! LOL!

Isn't there a show something like the one you mention on the history channel as well? Thought I seen something like it on there before, but could be mistaking.

I don't know if there is a show on the History Channel or not like this one. If you come up with any more info if there is, please post it here if you don't mind.

Gone, it's on A&E not the History Channel, sorry about that!

Called Cold Case Files:
http://www.aetv.com/cold_case_files/ccf_about.jsp

A little of the description:

Murders go unsolved. Killers slip through the cracks. With the passage of time, families lose hope and another unsolved homicide file settles into obscurity. The pattern is familiar, but changing—thanks to the efforts of a special breed of detectives. Cold Case Files® tells the story of their work.
These detectives are experts in the science of crime detection. They blow the dust off old homicide files, walk down the corridors of time, and set out on the hunt for a killer—a killer who thinks the search is off. Using new technology and old-fashioned police work, their methods offer a study in patience and perseverance. Cold Case Files takes you on a journey, step by step, through the methods used to catch the culprit..

PS. If you watch it let me know how you like it. I've watched it several times.

I've watched Cold Case before. It was on CBS, but I do believe they show it in syndication as well. That's a pretty good show, but not the same as The Forgotten.

In Cold Case those detectives essentially try to solve old cases that other law enforcement couldn't figure out.

The Forgotten, really do not investigate the case per se, they try and attempt to find the identity of homicide victims whose identities are not known and that the police have essentially put on the back burner.

The volunteers scan missing person data bases, etc., to find possible matches and these people who do this do not have to be detectives or have any type of law enforcement or investigative type background.

If you're interested, here's the link for the Doe Network which is the real-life organization that does this kind of work:

I've seen promos for Criminal Minds, and it looks good, but I've never seen it.

Yes that is different than cold case files. Thanks for the link. I found myself looking through the index of unidentified persons, to see if I recognized anyone! That index is huge, however! Another program that I remember watching was about psychics that helped authorities find bodies, psychic detectives, it may have been called but don't quote me on that! I love any type of shows like this.

Another good one is The first 48 hours:

You can watch full episodes videos on line as well.

I couldn't believe how large the index is either! It's kind of sad to think that that many people are missing and their family and friends have no idea where they're at or what has become of them.

I remember watching Psychic Detectives and another show I think it was called Psychic Investigators both I thought were good, but didn't last too long. The show Medium started off being interesting, but once they started making the show revolve around her personal life and not what she does, I lost interest. The same with CSI (the original) was really good until they started making the show more about the peoples' personal lives than their job it turned into a night time soap opera. I haven't watched any of the spin-offs.

48 hours is a good show. It amazes me how the littlest clue that would seem to be nothing leads to cracking a case.
