My mom found out that she has to have a pacemaker put in! she had two heartattacks 6 years ago and i am sooo scared. are they bad or am i making this out worse than it really is. her heart only pumps at 31% a year ago it only pumped at 35%. i am freaking out i dont want nothing to happen to her she is all i have and i am so scared that if something happens to her i am going to be left alone and scared.

Pacemakers are not bad. I know many whose lives depend on them but one would never even know they have one unless told.

Don't worry about this step. Worry if she chose not to have one.

when she called and told me she was so nonchalant about it. i freaked and i am scared. my mom is my best friend she is the one who raised me by herself......i dont want anything to happen to her

Pretty rountine procedure Lynne...the alternative, having an AED at your side.

She'll do fine with a pacemaker.

Automated External Defibrillator  (AED)

An AED is a small, portable device that analyzes the heart's rhythm for any abnormalities and, if necessary, directs the rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to the heart of someone suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. This shock, called defibrillation, may help the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.

Mom will be just fine...  most people's lives actually improve with a pm because they can resume a healthy and active lifestyle.
