Why don't we try to respect one another.

This will solve most of our problems.

Beginning right now everyone must do their jobs as well as, or better than, they expect others to do theirs.

I agree with you Red, when I have to reprimand an employee, I always use a line I heard along time ago....This company is only as good as it's worst employee, right now this door should be locked!

Well, to be honest, I got in trouble for telling this to the CEO. Smiley

But then, I didn't like him anyway.

I have seen very few that performed as well as they seemed to think others should.

That is one of the best work ethics I have had, never expect someone to do something you are not willing to do yourself.

A good practice but not always possible.

One of the popular but impractical myths is that the boss should be able to do any job that his/her employees can do. In my career, I was the director of maintenance in several facilities.  I don't know anyone that could do all tasks required.

But, my point is that we often expect much more of others than we actually contribute ourselves.

Didn't state you had to know how to do it, just be willing to attempt it yourself.  It is amazing how people can get motivated to do their job when they see someone else screwing it all up.

Here's an example of that in practice:

http://www.tribdem.com/local/local_story_314225628.html

"Who will oversee the day-to-day operation in most of this building" asks a member of council.

How about the borough manager?  Do you think he can handle it?

I wonder why he (the borough manager) walked out after the vote was read.  It looks like someome found him some work to do!

Windber probably could have saved more money had they got rid of the manager and had the administrative assistant handle the job.  Richland Township got rid of their manager about eight years ago or so and never replaced him.
