Hey ... the old Galleria Nails renovated the spot where the Working Cow ice cream shop and the old NASCAR store were into one salon ... it is awesome looking.
I know it is just the old nail salon relocating to a better, higher traffic spot, but the improvements are astounding !
Also, everyone probably knew that Shoe Dept. took over half of Steve & Barrys old spot when they moved out ... well, the other half is being converted into a GlowGolf indoor glow-in-the-dark mini-golf center ... they said it would be open by the end of next week.
I got new neighbors ... now all I need is to get the old Pretzel Gourmet to get taken over by a smart vendor who sees all the potential business from that little mini-golf place, and I am surrounded again !
Just figured I'd post something positive about the mall for a change ... plus this gives something for the critics to complain about, too !

All is Well!

One of my coworkers went to the Galleria yesterday (drove there from Greensburg).  She said she was the only one there.

Was she fibbing?

When the snow flies, the shoppers split.
Yesterday was slow ... between the weather (in Richland in the winter on the top of that hill, it is like the Arctic, I think ... I am a big guy and the winds were so bad when I left last night, I had a hard time pushing the door open to get out of the mall) and the Steelers game in the evening, that always effects the mall.
Your co-worker drove from Greensburg to Johnstown to the mall to shop ?
Why didn't they go to the Westmoreland Mall ?
I mean, according to all the nay-sayers in Johnstown, every mall in the region is better than ours ... why travel here ?
The Galleria is the ONLY mall that has open spots, from how everyone talks Cheesy
I just talked with someone who said Monroeville Mall has either 23 or 28 (sorry, can't remember the exact number) open empty store fronts.
In the immortal words of Chhech & Chong, "Things are tough all over" ...

What the Bird says about snow.
I was there this afternoon and the place was packed.
Well, 'packed' by Galleria standards. It was as busy as I've ever seen.

Yep ... with us being up there just about every day, my wife and I are getting good at predicting crowds ... cold, but the sun is out today, so I look for a heavy day at the mall.
Sundays are funny ... if the Steelers play at 1:00, the mall pretty dead ... 4:00 PM and the mall is good until about 3, and evening games, the mall runs pretty normal.
Thursday night was dead (as were the Steelers) ...
The GlowGolf is looking pretty dang cool inside ... they said it will be running by the end of this coming week.
And to Mr. J ... we look forward to seeing the newlyweds !!

Weren't those vacancies in the food court supposed to be filled by Christmas?  Anyone hear anything new on that front?

It looked like "for lease" signs were still up last time I was there.

Don't know on the food court ... they had interested parties, but I think one took the old Dingbats spot ...
GlowGolf is open for business and looks cool as heck inside.
$5.00 for a round for kids, and $7.00 for adults ... it is a pretty neat looking set-up.

We stopped in and played the glow golf and it WAS pretty cool!  Go try it out.  BB^2, sorry we were so low on time, we'll be up soon for a longer chat!  I was in the mall several times over the holidays and it was pretty busy everytime.  I think I'll check it out sometime around 2AM to see what it's REALLY like.

2 AM is the best time to stop by and judge the business levels at the mall ... either that or wait until the biggest snowstorm of the year, then trudge through 2 feet of snow to come to the mall, then go home and post the mall is dead.
It always amazes me how many folks cry for improvements and plead for new businesses to come to town, then when they do, all you see are complaints.
I heard a customer the other day say "boy, the mall really needs a GlowGolf with all the empty store spots" ... funniest part is the Monroeville Mall has 28 open slots right now ... I believe, at this time, thier occupancy rate is lower than ours.
Things are tough all over, but why make the worst out of everything.
I heard the old Pretzel Gourmet may be getting an occupant here after the first of the year ... I saw 3 different groups of people in there so I am hoping for another new neighbor.
I have dealt with Zamias and they are better people that they are given credit for being.
Hopefully, as far as business goes, everything stabilizes and evens out ... things are tight for everyone, including us, but we keep fighting.

Why don't we try to respect one another.

Some people are not happy unless they are telling you how unhappy they are.

Others have to be complaining that someone else is responsible for their unhappiness.
